You may find it hard to believe, but I actually have a degree in marketing.  Okay – it is some twenty years old (ahem!) but much of the basics of marketing that I learned then still apply. And when I was paid for by other people to market their products, I could do it without a thought.  

But here I am, with my little but enthusiastic business which just wants to please (if I was a dog, I would be a golden retriever!), and I fail at most hurdles to apply marketing magic. But every once in a while, I get a reminder of what it is that we do and what we do best – and I want to share it with you as it is the best piece of marketing I have received:

Dear Maeri,

I just wanted to take a minute and say a very big thank you to you for all your help and support during the beginners sewing course that I recently attended.  I thoroughly enjoyed the course and think that you have the size of the class spot on, as you certainly had the time to ensure that we as a group and as individuals were learning at a comfortable pace with added instruction being given on a ‘one on one’ basis when needed.

I had a wonderful morning with you and the other ladies (and cannot thank you enough for the extra time that you spent with me after the course to help me set up and practise on my own sewing machine – it is no longer gathering dust on top of the wardrobe J); not many tutors would have spent that time out of the kindness of their heart like you did.

Your course was relaxed, fun and informative and I hope to be in a position to attend some of the other courses on offer in the near future.
