How many students are there in a workshop?

We like to keep our workshops small and friendly, so we limit workshops to six for non-sewing crafts and four for sewing related workshops (this is due primarily to the sewing machines taking up space!).

What should I bring?

Most of our workshops have everything included! In some cases (the home furnishings workshops), people like to bring their own fabric which isn’t a problem but please contact us ahead of time so that we can advise you on the type of fabric and quantity needed for your workshop.

What age range are the workshops for?

Our general workshops are for adults of all ages. Teenagers are also more than welcome to attend. We have workshops specifically for children during school holidays, or you can book a private session by contacting the Studio and we can arrange a session that suits your child’s age and interests.

I have never sewn a stitch! Are your sewing workshops for me?

Our All You Need to Know to Sew workshop is excellent – we have yet to have someone leave without a great introduction to sewing as well as having completed their cushion cover! If you still don’t believe us, we have a “100% satisfied crafter guarantee” – if you aren’t happy with your workshop, we return your money, no questions asked. If the workshop indicates that it is for a beginner, we have tested it to make sure that it is exactly what a “newbie” would want to learn – so please be assured if we think you can do it, you can!

What is the best way to book? online, call the studio or send the registration in?

You can do all three – but booking online is easiest as it takes payment by all major credit or debit cards and you receive an immediate confirmation of your space in the workshop.

If you want to send it in or pay in person, you can do so with cash or cheque (made out to M.E.Howard) and include information on the workshop you would like to attend. You will receive a confirmation of your place on the workshop once the cheque has been deposited.

Where can I park?

Beech Road is a residential road so has plenty of free parking on both sides of the road (and a great view to boot!). Please be considerate to our neighbours when parking.

I want to do a workshop but it’s not listed?

We’re always very keen to hear about new skills and workshops that you’d like to see included on our list. So please let us know if there’s something you’d like to learn, and we’ll do our very best to find a tutor and get it on workshop schedule!

How do I book a workshop?

Simply browse our workshops online and click the link for the specific workshop that you would like to book for. You can book online with a credit card, debit card or PayPal account. (It isn’t necessary to have a PayPal account in order to book online). Alternatively, you can drop into the Studio and pay in person by cash or cheque Please note full payment is required to ensure your place at a workshop.

What if I need to cancel?

If you find yourself unable to attend your booking, we can offer a refund if you notify us more than 14 days in advance. If cancellation is within 14 days of your booking I’m afraid we are unable to offer a refund but if we are able, we can move you on to the next available date for your workshop. You can always send some one in your place though – just let us know of the name change please. A full refund will be given if your workshop is cancelled by us or you can elect to attend an alternative workshop instead.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

You certainly can as we love all machines! Please make sure it is in good working order and if necessary, have it serviced to ensure that it is in the best condition to sew with. If you do elect to bring your own machine, can you let us know in advance and make sure to bring your power supply for your machine.

I have a skill that could be a workshop – can I be a tutor?

We are always keen to hear from any skilled and friendly people able to run workshops. If you think you have what it takes, please email the studio or phone and speak with Maeri Howard.

Can I buy gift vouchers?

Yes, you can buy gift vouchers as we think they are a great way to give a gift that is a bit different as well as thoughtful. We offer vouchers for either a specific workshop or a specific amount and each one is handmade for the lucky recipient. You can purchase these in the Shop.

Do you sell crafting equipment?

We do! An avid crafter herself, Maeri stocks only products she would want to use personally, so the selection isn’t large but has been created to reflect her modern sense of style, and with keen attention to quality. This includes various bits of equipment that we use in the studio which we feel are essential tools for anyone that would like to use them and that whatever we sell on to you will be excellent quality and great value for money. These can be purchased via the Studio or at our on-line Shop.
